We envision a gospel centered community where people are saved, healed, set free, discipled, equipped, empowered and serving.
“For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.”
Hebrews 10:36
KJV
To help people establish an authentic relationship with God, become whole through hope in Christ, so that they may discover their purpose and transform
their community by doing the will of God.
Bishop Kenny Redfern is one used prophetically by the Holy Ghost to touch the lives of those that are hurt, broken and discouraged. He is a friend, a passionate Kingdom leader and mentor. He is known as a leader with a heart for the people.
Bishop Redfern was born and raised in Buffalo, New York. He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior at age 15 under the leadership of Pastor Tommy Land at Triumph the Church at Kingdom of God in Christ church in Buffalo, NY. There he learned to be a faithful servant by becoming the leader over the prayer band. It was the wisdom and guidance of the church elders and mothers that helped form the foundation of his Christian walk. During his early years he quickly learned that it was his responsibility to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with all he encountered, and could be frequently found witnessing to his peers and neighbors.
As a young man he attended Greater Emmanuel Temple under the leadership of the late Bishop Robert Deas. There he ministered to the sick, served as an usher, participated as a choir member and was the director of the food pantry. It was during this time that Bishop Redfern gained a deper insight into his Biblical studies and the responsibilities of church leadership through attending ministerial development classes.
Throughout his life, he enjoyed work as a subcontractor and a salesman, but found his passion working in the human service field as a mental health case manager which he did until 2008 when he began pastoring on a full time basis.
In August of 2000 Bishop Redfern preached his trial sermon. After the Lord finished using him two families were baptized and received the gift of the Holy Spirit. It was at this time that God confirmed to him that he had truly been called. He continued to serve teaching Sunday school. During this time his gift of ministering to leaders both within and outside of the church flourished.
After enduring a series of personal tragedies and trials the Lord led Bishop Redfern to membership at Prayer Tower COGIC, under the leadership of the late Elder Joe Butts. While serving at Prayer Tower the leadership recognized the calling of a pastor on him. This confirmed what the Lord had been ministering to Bishop Redfern for several years and he accepted his call to pastor. In 2003 he began pastoring and according to God’s plan Bishop Redfern was officially ordained and installed by Bishop Louis Spencer, the presiding prelate of the North American Outreach (NAO) on March 14, 2004. He served diligently for nine years as the chairman of the Ways and Means Committee in the NAO Fellowship.
With a heart for the church leader and an understanding of the issues that face ministries in today’s generation, Bishop Redfern sought God regarding his desire of the office of the Bishopric. After much reflection and prayer the Lord confirmed what had been spoken out of the mouths of many and on March 15, 2014 he was elevated to the office of bishop by the late Bishop William Henderson, of Light of the World Missions.
Bishop Redfern is dedicated to creating and providing resources and services to help the less fortunate. He is resolutely committed to unconditional outreach and leads the culturally diverse congregation of Doing the Will of God Church with integrity, excellence and enthusiasm for God. Under his leadership several outreach programs have been implemented addressing the needs of the community. God has blessed him with the gift of leadership and he presently serves as a mentor and confidant to those in ministry across denominations.
Bishop Redfern resides in Williamsville, NY with his wife Chandra and their daughter Kennedy. Together they work side by side in the ministry serving the community by helping those who are broken and hurt connect with Christ, experience the manifestation of God's will in their lives; so that they may be restored and do the will of God. Bishop Redfern’s favorite scripture is Romans 8:28: “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose”.
Committed to the calling of God, His Word and a love for God's people Elder Chandra Redfern is a woman after God's own heart. Her message is one of encouragement and empowerment. She ministers to those who are broken, lost, discouraged and in pain. Her proclamation is that it takes “all kinds” to spread the gospel and believes that God can truly use anyone despite obstacles that they may face in life.
Pastor Redfern was born and raised in Niagara Falls, New York. A graduate of Canisius College’s Master of Science program in counseling, she has enjoyed career experiences in the areas of domestic violence, juvenile justice and adolescent services, but discovered her passion working in the mental health field. She joined the staff at Buffalo Federation of Neighborhood Centers, Inc. (BFNC) in 2000. She has held several positions at BFNC and presently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the organization. She has studied in the Pastoral and Christian Ministries program at Houghton College, as well as in the Doctor of Strategic Leadership program at Regent University. Elder Redfern is committed to the community in which she lives and actively serves on many committees.
Pastor Redfern served faithfully for several years at Ephesus Ministries in Buffalo, New York where she was ordained and served in the ministry areas of leadership development, church administration and women’s ministry under the leadership of Pastors Jeff E. and the late Deborah A. Carter. On October 6, 2020 she was installed as Pastor of Doing The Will Of God Church, where she serves in ministry with her husband Bishop Redfern. Pastor Redfern considers it an honor and a privilege that God has called and ordained her to the ministry and wholeheartedly embraces the verse, “And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry;” 1Timothy1:12
We believe that the Bible is God’s Word. It is accurate, authoritative and applicable to our everyday lives.
We believe in one eternal God who is the Creator of all things. He exists in three Persons: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. He is totally loving and completely holy.
We believe that sin has separated each of us from God and His purpose for our lives.
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ as both God and man is the only One who can reconcile us to God. He lived a sinless and exemplary life, died on the cross, and rose again.
We believe that in order to receive forgiveness we must repent of our sins, believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and submit to His will for our lives.
We believe that in order to live the holy and fruitful lives that God intends for us, we need to be baptised and be filled with the power of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit enables us to use spiritual gifts, including speaking in tongues.
We believe in the sanctifying power of the Holy Ghost by whose indwelling the believer is enabled to live a Holy and Separated life in this present world.
We believe in the power and significance of the Church and the necessity of believers to meet regularly together for fellowship and prayer.
We believe that God has individually equipped us so that we can successfully achieve His purpose for our lives which is to worship God, fulfil our role in the Church and serve the community.
We believe that God wants to heal and transform us so that we can live fulfilled lives.
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is coming back again as He promised.
